A great shade tree with a very picturesque form. New leaves are green with a red tinge and mature to green. Smooth bark. Crushed leaves and twigs exude a camphor fragrance. In spring, produces masses of small white flowers, followed by clusters of black, berry-like fruit during autumn which birds love. Tolerates drought once established.
