The autumn colours of Cercis canadensis ‘Hearts Of Gold’ range from bright yellow-orange to red. In the springtime, the bare branches of Cercis canadensis ‘Hearts Of Gold’ become covered in rose-pink flowers. The dark red-brown bark of Cercis canadensis ‘Hearts Of Gold’ has a scaly surface, which develops deep fissures, revealing the cinnamon-orange interior. The young stems of Cercis canadensis ‘Hearts Of Gold’ begin brown and eventually turn almost black, making them an interesting feature during the winter season. Propagation by grafting began at Hidden Hollow Nursery in Belvidere, Tennessee, United States in August of 2002.
