Betula pendula ‘Youngii’ forms a dome-shaped canopy of slender, drooping side-branches that emerge from a straight trunk. Its small green leaves turn a bright yellow color during the autumn season. Betula pendula is deciduous and native to Europe and parts of Asia, though in southern Europe, it is only found at higher altitudes. Its range extends into Siberia, China, and southwest Asia in the mountains of northern Turkey, the Caucasus, and northern Iran. Learn more about Betula pendula. Betula pendula ‘Youngii’ was found as a chance seedling trailing on the ground and was introduced by the nursery of Maurice Young in Milford, Surrey, England in about 1874.
