Betula nigra ‘Summer Cascade’

Betula nigra ‘Summer Cascade’ features gently weeping, pendulous branches and pink, peeling bark. Its foliage is dark green during the spring and summer months, but transforms into a stunning yellow color during the autumn. Its peeling bark is pink to orange-brown on younger trees, revealing a lighter cream-white bark underneath, while on older trees, the bark becomes red to grey-brown and eventually almost black. Betula nigra is deciduous and native to the Eastern United States from New Hampshire west to southern Minnesota, south to northern Florida, and west to Texas. Betula nigra ‘Summer Cascade’ was introduced by John and Daniel Allen of Shiloh Nursery in Harmony, North Carolina, United States.
