Apple ‘Braeburn’ is one of the world’s top commercial apples, with delicious, crisp, juicy flesh and a superb sweet-tart flavour. It is an excellent keeper, and its fruits can be harvested from late summer to mid-autumn. Apple ‘Braeburn’ produces pink buds that open to white flowers in the spring. It is partially self-fertile, but it is best to plant it with another cultivar that has a similar bloom period, such as Apple ‘Fuji’ or Apple ‘Granny Smith’. Apple is deciduous and native to Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and China. Learn more about Apple. Apple ‘Braeburn’ was discovered in 1952 as a chance seedling by O. Moran in the Moutere Hills near Motueka, New Zealand and was cultivated by the Williams Brothers nursery in Motueka, New Zealand.
