Agathis australis

This slender, pyramidal tree has the ability to fit into a confined space for several years, despite kauri trees attaining a broad size with age. When young, it needs protection from frosts and wind, and requires moist soil during dry periods for establishing. However, it can tolerate light frosts and heavy clay soils once it has matured. The leaves of Agathis australis are bronze when young, maturing to green with age. Agathis australis thrives in moist, well-drained soil. Is evergreen and native to the northern regions of New Zealand’s North Island.
