Afrocarpus mannii grows densely and can be trimmed to form a hedge. Its long leaves are fresh-green when young. It is a quick and vigorous grower. Afrocarpus mannii is evergreen and native to the Afromontane forests of São Tomé Island in the Gulf of Guinea, growing at altitudes of 1,300m up to the summit at 2,024m.
