Acer rubrum ‘Bowhall’ has an upright, columnar shape that makes it an excellent choice for avenues or street planting. It is quick-growing and produces glowing, orange-red autumn leaves that are sure to catch the eye. Acer rubrum ‘Bowhall’ also bears small, red flowers during the early to mid-spring period. It thrives in moist, well-drained soil and full-sun conditions, but it is also capable of growing in a range of soils, including sandy, heavy clay, peat, dry, and poor-draining soil. Acer rubrum ‘Bowhall’ was selected by Scanlon Nursery of Olmsted Falls, Ohio, United States in 1946 and named in 1951. The original tree grew near Cleveland, Ohio and it was named after the road on which it was discovered.
