Its sizable, deeply-lobed leaves are a rich green color and shift to a striking yellow or orange hue during fall. Acer platanoides ‘Columnare’ has a shallow root system that may cause upheaval in sidewalks and driveways, but it can endure air pollution and is simple to relocate. It thrives in moist and well-drained soil, though it can also adapt to dry sites that encounter occasional drought and wet areas that experience sporadic flooding.
