Acer palmatum ‘Katsura’

In spring, this maple produces orange and yellow leaves that unfurl before other maples. The leaves turn green in summer and change to shades of yellow and orange in autumn. It prefers moist, well-drained soils and may suffer leaf scorch from excess sun, wind, and drought. It is cold hardy and a good choice for bonsai. Acer palmatum is deciduous and native to Japan, Korea, China, eastern Mongolia, and southeast Russia. Acer palmatum ‘Katsura’ originated in Japan.
