Acer palmatum ‘Burgundy Lace’
Japanese Maple
Acer palmatum ‘Burgundy Lace’ has deeply-lobed leaves resembling lace, and they turn a burgundy-wine color through summer before changing to scarlet in autumn. It has a spreading growth habit, making it suitable for smaller gardens as a shade tree. It prefers moist, well-drained soils but may experience leaf scorch from excessive sun, wind, and drought. Acer palmatum ‘Burgundy Lace’ is cold hardy and is also great for bonsai. Acer palmatum is deciduous and native to Japan, Korea, China, eastern Mongolia, and southeast Russia. Acer palmatum ‘Burgundy Lace’ was raised in the United States before 1958.
