Acer palmatum

Acer palmatum develops a round-headed, open, airy structure with slender stems. The green leaves are deeply-lobed and dissected, and turn brilliant shades of yellow, orange, and red in autumn. It makes an excellent shade tree and is a great choice for planting along the street. Acer palmatum prefers moist, well-drained soils but may suffer from leaf scorch due to excess sun, wind, and drought. It is cold hardy and can also be used for bonsai.
