Acer negundo ‘Flamingo’
Box Elder
This is an upright tree with striking carmine-pink and green leaves in spring, transitioning to white and green in summer, and ultimately to red in autumn. It is a great fit for smaller gardens and produces small, yellow-green flowers in early to mid-spring. However, it does not tolerate shade or strong winds, and its seeds are toxic to horses. Once established, it can withstand air pollution, drought, and occasional water-logged soils. It is also cold hardy. Acer negundo is deciduous and native to south-central Canada, much of the United States, and Guatemala. Learn more about Acer negundo. Acer negundo ‘Flamingo’ was raised in the Netherlands before 1976.
