Melicope ternata
Whārangi
Melicope ternata forms a rounded, large bush of shiny, lime-green leaves. It grows well in sandy soils that are sheltered from the coastal winds. Melicope ternata can tolerate light frosts. Small, yellow-green flowers are produced from late winter to late spring. From late spring to early autumn, Melicope ternata produces brown fruit that, once ripe, open to reveal a black seed that birds are fond of. Melicope ternata is evergreen and native to New Zealand.
