This magnificent magnolia is a sight to behold, with large, woolly buds that open to reveal deep-magenta, cupped blooms that age to deep-purple. Magnolia campbellii ‘Lanarth’ blooms from late-winter to early-spring and, although it may take a few years to flower, it is well worth the wait. The flowers can be up to 23cm wide, while the leaves are typically 25cm long by 15cm wide. For best results, plant Magnolia campbellii ‘Lanarth’ in a sheltered spot. It has an upright growth habit and is a good choice for narrow sites. Magnolia campbellii is deciduous and native to China, Myanmar, Nepal, Tibet, and the Himalayas.
