Fagus sylvatica ‘Rohanii’ is a tall, dense, pyramidal tree with lower branches that sweep down to the ground and has smooth grey bark. Its spring leaves are a deep red-purple with a silky sheen and become dark-purple by summer. The striking feature of Fagus sylvatica ‘Rohanii’ is the deeply-lobed, decorative, oak-like leaves. During the autumn season, the leaves turn purple, then brown through the winter and fall off prior to the emergence of new leaves. Fagus sylvatica is deciduous and native to Europe.
