Frequently Asked Questions

How long do you guarantee my plants?

Any issues or concerns must be reported within one week of receiving your trees. Leafland will consider replacing plants (if they have been removed from their bags) or guarantee their survival for up to 6 months with a free replacement. For more details, please refer to our Terms of Trade.

How often do you deliver?

Delivery times depend on your location in New Zealand. Typically, we deliver weekly to areas from Auckland to Christchurch. For rural locations, we may need to use specialized freight companies to deliver directly to your door. We recommend placing your order at least 10 days in advance to give us the best chance of meeting your needs. Feel free to reach out and ask when we’ll be in your area next!

How do I plant my tree?

Please refer to our Tree Planting Guide.

How long can my tree stay in its bag after delivery?

Most of our plants can remain in their bags for an additional 4-6 months after delivery with daily watering. If you notice the leaves turning yellow (a sign of nutrient deficiency), it’s time to plant it. Also, be sure to keep the plants in a safe area where they won’t be at risk of falling over.

What does “Grade” mean?

Grade refers to the size of the bag the plant is in, typically measured in litres (e.g., 45L). Occasionally, we use Pint Bags (P18), where P18 equals 10L, and P28 equals 15L or 17L.

What does “standard” or “std” mean?

“Standard” refers to the height at which the plant is grafted onto the rootstock. For example, a Prunus serrulata ‘Awanui’ with a standard of 1.8m will have a stem/rootstock measuring 1.8m before the branches begin.

What does “In Production” (IP) mean?

When we bag new tree lines, they need to stay in their bags for over 6 months to allow the roots to fill out and develop into healthy, strong plants. “In Production” refers to trees currently undergoing this process and will be available for sale in the next few months. Contact us for more precise details on when they will be ready.

Can I reserve trees for future planting?

Yes, we recommend reserving trees a couple of months in advance! To secure your trees, a 50% deposit is required. The remaining balance will be due before dispatch. Get in touch with us to find out what will be ready soon and reserve for the future!

Can I order a printed catalogue?

Yes, of course, free of charge! Just reach out to us, and we’ll be happy to mail one to you.

What payment types do you accept?

Once your order is confirmed, we will send you an invoice with online banking details. If you are picking up, we also accept cash. Please note, we do not have EFTPOS available on-site and do not accept credit card payments.
