The fruit is a large and juicy plum, with yellow-red skin and yellow flesh, shaped like a mango, and has a very aromatic and sweet flavor. It typically ripens in mid-summer and is relatively easy to cultivate and maintain in a home garden setting. Prunus salicina ‘Luisa’ produces white flowers during the spring season and is self-fertile, although planting it with Prunus salicina ‘Billington’ can result in a higher yield.
