This apple variety is an excellent choice for organic growers as it is highly resistant to black spot disease and requires little, if any, spraying. The fruit has a red blush, with a crisp, juicy, sweet-tart flavor, and Malus domestica ‘Liberty’ is known to be a heavy bearer. The fruit becomes ripe from mid to late autumn, and in spring, the pink buds develop into white flowers. While Malus domestica ‘Liberty’ is self-fertile, it is best to plant it with early-flowering cultivars such as Malus domestica ‘Braeburn’ to achieve the best crop.
