Juglans regia ‘Wilson’s Wonder’
English Walnut
Juglans regia ‘Wilson’s Wonder’ is vigorous and starts bearing at a young age, producing large thin-shelled nuts with a sweet flavor. It thrives in free-draining soil and begins to bear walnuts at around three years old. The nuts are brown and encased in a green husk. While self-fertile, planting with another walnut cultivar like Juglans regia ‘Meyric’ or Juglans regia ‘Shannon’ can lead to better crops. Juglans regia is deciduous and native to the region stretching from the Balkans eastward to the Himalayas and southwest China. Learn more about Juglans regia. Juglans regia ‘Wilson’s Wonder’ was imported into New Zealand by Vernon Harrison and others.
