Citrus x paradisi ‘Star Ruby’ produces abundant crops of juicy, red-fleshed fruit with yellow-orange skins. The fruit ripens from late-winter to mid-spring, and in cooler climates, the intensity of the red flesh may be lessened. The fruit holds well on Citrus x paradisi ‘Star Ruby’, and it is low-seeded or even seedless in some cases, with a very good flavor. Citrus x paradisi ‘Star Ruby’ has scented white flowers that bloom throughout the summer season, and it is self-fertile, meaning that it does not require additional pollination from other trees to produce fruit. However, it prefers warmer climates and may not tolerate cold areas with significant frosts. Citrus x paradisi is evergreen and a hybrid between Citrus x sinensis and Citrus maxima.
