Cercis canadensis ‘Forest Pansy’
Eastern Redbud
Cercis canadensis ‘Forest Pansy’ has a rounded shape and bears large, heart-shaped leaves that glow in a deep purple color. In autumn, the leaves change color to glowing orange and red. It produces numerous rose-pink, pea-shaped flowers on its bare branches in the spring. The bark of Cercis canadensis ‘Forest Pansy’ is dark red-brown and has a scaly surface that forms deep fissures to reveal a cinnamon-orange interior. The young stems start out brown and gradually become almost black, adding winter interest. Cercis canadensis is deciduous and native to eastern North America. Learn more about Cercis canadensis.
